Housing

The City’s Housing Program supports the community by expanding housing opportunities for current and future residents. Through planning, partnerships, and local initiatives, we ensure safe, affordable, and diverse housing options that enhance quality of life throughout Lacey.
Affordable Housing
The City is currently implementing recent state housing legislation and continues to evaluate strategies that support housing choice, affordability, and a range of housing options for current and future residents.
Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU)
Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU) are gaining in popularity due to their versatility. They can provide space for your family, friends and out of town guests, an affordable rental unit, or just a private studio space in your own backyard. Some people even build one to live in and rent out their house. When you’re ready to be build one we’re here to help you through the process, step by step.
Middle Housing
“Middle Housing” refers to homes that fall between single-family houses and high-density apartment complexes. This includes buildings such as duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, fiveplexes, sixplexes, townhouses, stacked flats, courtyard apartments, and cottage housing.
Manufactured Homes
Manufactured housing (commonly known as ‘mobile homes’) offers the ability for lower-income households to own or rent their homes. However, most reside in Manufactured Home Parks (MHPs) and remain tenants of the MHP owner.
Currently, the City of Lacey is seeking input on manufactured home communities to better understand their needs.
