Council Recognizes Bookmark Contest Winners

The Lacey City Council recognized the Grand Prize winners of the Lacey Loves to Read Bookmark contest at the January 19 Council Meeting. Hundreds of students from all grades in North Thurston Public Schools submitted designs in the contest. The winners received a certificate of recognition from the City Council and will have their bookmark designs printed and distributed at local schools, sponsor locations, and the Lacey Timberland Regional Library. The council also proclaimed February as Lacey Loves To Read month.

Lacey Loves to Read is a community reading initiative designed to generate the discussion and celebration of a notable author. In addition to the bookmark contest, students also participate in short story writing events, and more. This year’s featured author, Dan Gemeinhart, will speak at a Meet-the-Author event on February 9 at the Koval Center for the Performing arts.
