Development Review Section

The Development Review section coordinates the needs of citizens, developers, engineers, and surveyors with the City of Lacey’s Public Works and Community & Economic Development departments. Every residential or commercial project that is privately funded is reviewed and inspected by members of the Development Review team.

Water, sewer, storm drainage, street section, street lighting, erosion control, and landscaping elements are all part of typical civil drawing plan reviews and inspections made by the Development Review section.

Development Review members assist in the development process.  Team members conduct research and provide notes for each site where a development is proposed.  If the project moves forward, formal conditions of approval are provided and finally, civil plans are reviewed to assure city standards and satisfied.  After the plans are approved for construction, Development Review inspectors inspect each project to assure safety and city standards are incorporated into the construction of the project.

Development Review provides estimates for connecting to utilities (water and sewer), processes and administers latecomer agreements, collects and reviews required development documents (right-of-way dedication, easements, stormwater maintenance agreements, power of attorney for annexation and stormwater facility summary forms). Development Review must also inspect all right-of-way access permits and provides inspection assistance for erosion control.

Throughout the process, Development Review’s goal is to make the development process an efficient and positive experience.
