Lacey Receives Smart Communities Award for MakerSpace Expansion
The Washington State Department of Commerce recently announced the Governor’s Smart Communities Awards. The awards recognize outstanding efforts of local communities and their partners throughout the state, creating vibrant and livable communities by achieving the goals of the Growth Management Act and other community development objectives.
The City of Lacey received a Smart Partnership Award for the Lacey MakerSpace expansion. This award category recognizes a joint public project that implements a comprehensive plan.
“The Lacey Makerspace expansion has been a boon for small businesses, artists, and students,” said Mayor Andy Ryder. “This project is an important incubator that turns ideas into reality. We are honored the governor chose this project for one of this year’s Smart awards.”
