Lacey Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The City of Lacey (City) recently received the State Auditor’s Stewardship Award from the Washington State Auditor’s Office for its strong financial management practices, effective internal controls, and commitment to accountability and transparency in managing public funds.

“While financial audits may not be the most exciting part of local government, they are an important part of how we earn and maintain the community’s trust,” said City Manager Rick Walk. “This recognition reflects the Finance team’s commitment to strong financial practices, as well as the work of staff throughout the organization to manage public resources responsibly.”

The recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of the City’s Finance team and other staff throughout the organization. Everyone plays a role by following sound practices, managing resources carefully, and helping ensure public dollars are used responsibly.

“We’re proud to be recognized alongside other agencies that share this commitment to accountability and responsible use of public resources,” said Walk. “Thank you to our Finance team and staff throughout the organization for doing your part to help maintain the public’s trust.”

The City remains committed to responsible financial management and transparency as it works to provide services and make investments that benefit the community.
