Support Local Businesses

With the holiday season upon us, now is the perfect time to recognize the vital role small businesses play in our community. Local businesses, from family-owned shops to new startups, contribute to Lacey’s economic vitality and help shape the character of our city.
When you shop, dine, purchase services or gift cards from a local small business, you’re not just checking an item off your to-do list; you’re investing in your community … your family, friends, and neighbors.

Did you know . . . for every dollar you spend at a local small business, 67 cents stays in the community. This happens because local businesses typically use local suppliers, hire local employees, and reinvest profits back into the community, creating a “multiplier effect” that benefits the area.
This holiday season and throughout the year, let’s show our support for the people behind the counter, the creators at the market, and the entrepreneurs who call Lacey home.
Now’s the Perfect Time to Trim Your Trees
Fall and winter are the perfect seasons to prune your trees. If you own property, it’s your responsibility to maintain any trees on your land, including those along the strip between the sidewalk and the road, to keep pedestrians and traffic safe. This means trimming branches to at least 10 feet above sidewalks and 14 feet above streets.
As a reminder, with storms and falling leaves, please do not blow leaves into the street. This helps prevent local flooding by keeping storm drains clear of leaves and debris.

Learn more about tree standards in the Lacey Municipal Code, Chapter 12.20. You can also get information about tree protection and removal on our Tree webpage.
Thank you for helping keep the City of Lacey beautiful and a Tree City USA for over 30 years!
Property owners are responsible for the maintenance of the trees on their property.
