PARKSPLORATION: Wanshers Community Park

Lacey’s Park System is one of the best in the state. In addition to great parks that are free and open to everyone, it includes miles of ADA-accessible trails, hiking trails, a premier regional athletic complex, and several community buildings.

Wanschers Community Park, named after Lettie Wanschers who bequeathed the property to the City in her will, is a heavily wooded gem located on the shores of Hicks Lake. Park visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along natural-surface paths or paved walking trails with breathtaking views of Mt. Rainier, fish on the banks of the lake, relax on the grassy areas, or have a picnic at one of the park’s tables.
