The City continually looks for new ways to engage with our community, increase transparency, and encourage open, two-way communication. To further enhance this connection, we invite you to participate in the Lacey Community Academy — an interactive, hands-on program designed to deepen your understanding of how your city operates.

WHY JOIN THE LACEY COMMUNITY ACADEMY?

  • Learn more about Lacey government including operations, services, ways to get involved, etc.
  • Connect with City Councilmembers, City leaders and staff, and other civic-minded residents
  • See taxpayers’ investments at work
  • Enjoy behind-the-scenes tours of City facilities

PROGRAM DETAILS

  • Schedule: Seven Weeks | Thursdays | 6 – 8 p.m.
    • Week 1 | April 16 – Lacey 101
    • Week 2 | April 23 – Public Works
    • Week 3 | April 30 – Finance | Budget | Taxes
    • Week 4 | May 7 – Parks, Culture, and Recreation
    • Week 5 | May 14 – Community & Economic Development
    • Week 6 | May 21 – Police Department
    • Week 7 | May 28 – Get to Know Your City Councilmembers
  • Location: Lacey City Hall or otherwise determined
  • Cost: FREE (Materials provided as well as light refreshments each week)

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

The Community Academy is open to anyone 18 years or older who lives in the City of Lacey or its Urban Growth Area (UGA).

Due to high interest and response, applications have closed. Thank you for your interest, and look for details on next year’s program!

Please note, that the Academy is not a platform to bring complaints or to debate issues but rather a place to become informed, ask questions, and learn.
