The cities of Lacey, Olympia, and Tumwater, and Thurston County are hosting a Lodging Tax Funding Workshop for potential applicants on Wednesday, June 5 from 3 – 6 p.m. in the Lacey City Hall Council Chambers, 420 College St SE.

Lodging Tax Advisory Committees (LTAC) for each jurisdiction review applications and make recommendations to their respective governing bodies on how to award lodging tax funds, annually. Lodging taxes are used to promote tourism, including events, facilities, and marketing, in the community.
Workshop attendees will learn about the lodging tax funding process, including:

  • How funds can be used.
  • What types of organizations are eligible to apply.
  • How to apply.
  • How funds are awarded.
  • What documentation is required from award recipients.

A representative from each jurisdiction will be available to answer questions about their specific application processes and requirements.

Lodging tax revenues are generated through an excise tax, up to 4%, imposed by a city or county as authorized by RCW 67.28. For more information on lodging tax, visit:
