Vehicular Assault Arrest

Lacey Police Major Collision Team responded to a four-car, injury collision at Ruddell Rd SE and 14th Ave SE.

On Saturday, June 7, 2025, at approximately 3:18 p.m., a Lacey Police Officer observed a recklessly driven 2014 Dodge Charger travel north on College St SE. The Officer turned on the vehicle and attempted to catch up to it to conduct a traffic stop. The driver of the Charger turned east onto 14th Ave SE and fled at a high rate of speed onto Ruddell Rd SE, where he caused a four-car, injury collision. The Charger subsequently caught fire, however all occupants were able to self extricate.

Eleven people reported injuries, including the driver of the Charger. Five victims aged 16 to 67 years old were transported to the hospital with injuries ranging from minor injuries to broken bones.

The driver, a 19-year-old Tacoma resident, is under arrest for Vehicular Assault and will be booked into Thurston County Jail once he is medically cleared.

Ruddell Rd SE was shut down between 15th Ave SE and Lacey Blvd SE for 3.5 hours while the collision was being investigated. Thank you to Lacey Public Works for assisting with traffic control and scene clean up.

The Major Collision Team will continue to investigate this incident and more charges are expected at the conclusion of the investigation.
