Project Update

Spring is here and so is some great progress on our 2025 Sidewalk Replacement Project!

The contractor, RW Scott Construction, is currently hard at work at Sites 3 and 6, where crews are busy tackling demolition and grading. Up next at these sites are: installing root barriers, planting new trees, and pouring fresh concrete. While we’re excited to see these improvements take shape, concrete work is especially sensitive to the weather — so Mother Nature will help set the pace over the next few weeks. We estimate crews may be at these two sites for about 3 weeks, weather permitting.

Starting Friday, March 27, additional crews will be at sites 2 and 4 keeping the momentum going. Work at these locations will include:

  • Potholing
  • Demolition & Grading
  • Root barrier installation
  • New tree planting
  • Concrete Work

We anticipate this phase could take up to a month, again depending on the weather.

Once sites 2 and 4 are complete crews will move on to Site 1. We’ll share a start date for that as soon as we have a clearer timeline.

All this work is scheduled between 7 am – 5 pm.

We truly appreciate your patience as we make these improvements to the city. Stay tuned for more updates as progress continues.

Project Update

Hello Lacey!

Your friendly project admin here with a quick (and cheerful) update. RW Scott will be busy, busy, busy next week — let’s think of them going on a mini tour through Lacey. They will be working at 3 different sites, and I have mapped out where they will be so you can follow along.

During their time at these sites, please expect intermitted lane and sidewalk closures between 7 am – 5 pm.

Here is the schedule for the week:

Monday, January 5 – Wednesday, January 7

Site 3: Stump Removal

Wednesday, January 7 – Friday, January 9

Site 5: Sidewalk demo and new concrete pours

Thursday, January 8 – Friday, January 9

Site 4: Stump Removal

A quick friendly reminder that this work is weather-dependent, so Mother Nature may have the final say. If schedules shift, I promise to keep you posted.

Thank you for your continued flexibility, understanding and patience. We truly appreciate it — and so will the new trees and sidewalks!

will the new trees and sidewalks!

Project Update

Hello Lacey Neighbors,

Your friendly Project Admin here with a quick construction update! As many of you know, with any project comes a few surprises along the way — and this one is no different. The original plan has shifted a bit, and we’re making some adjustments to how the work will move forward.

Right now, RW Scott is continuing tree and stump removal, and this work will run through the end of January. During stump removal we discovered that the process can sometimes affect nearby concrete. To prevent unnecessary damage, you may notice some concrete panels being temporarily removed. Don’t worry — they will be replaced.

Looking ahead, Monday December 8 – Friday December 12 between 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, RW Scott will be pouring new concrete on Komachin Ave SE. Specifically in the section that is located between 54th Ave SE & Wade Ct SE. As always, this schedule is weather dependent, so thank you in advance for your flexibility. With this said, please expect intermitted lane and sidewalk closures for safety.

You’ll be hearing from me frequently on this project. Between shifting weather, changing work speeds, and new approaches that help us get the job done better, dates and details may evolve — but I’m committed to sharing updates with you as soon as we get them.

Thank you for understanding and your continued patience for this project.

Project Update

Great news, Lacey — our schedule is moving faster than expected and we are rolling right into the next phase!

Starting Monday, December 1st going through mid-January, RW Scott will be on site 5 between the hours of 7:00 am – 5:00 pm. Their crews will be starting the removal of tree stumps and roots. (Important Note: This stage is strictly stump and root removal. Tree replacements and any concrete work are not part of this phase — those steps are coming later in the project)

While most work will happen with no lane closures, there may be temporary closures when needed for safety, depending on the size of the tree stump & equipment required.

Parking Notes: You will see “No Parking” signs posted as crews prepare to resume work on Monday, December 1. Please be mindful of these signs to help keep the project moving smoothly.

A little help from you: If you have irrigation lines near the work areas, RW Scott would greatly appreciate your help with marking them ahead of time. This makes for a faster, safer and easier process for everyone involved!

Site 5 Residents: If you have questions about the HOA requirements related to this project, please reach out directly to your HOA representatives.

Thank you for understanding and your continued patience for this project.

Project Update

Lacey, I come to you today to say, RW Scott has officially started site four. Work here will go through Thursday, November 6.

Please note: currently the trees are being removed but the stumps will remain for the time being.

At this time, there will be lane closures utilized ONLY when it is necessary. What would cause a lane closure depends on the sizing of the tree/removal process. We will work hard to reduce lane closures when possible but please be aware that it could happen.

This portion of the project is site three of six. Stay tuned for more updates.
