Yelm Hwy Pavement Rehab & Citywide Utility Adjustments

Project Background
Yelm Hwy SE from Ruddell Rd to Balustrade Blvd exhibits elevated levels of pavement distress in the wheel paths with signs of base failure. The work to be performed is a combination of a 2.5” Grind/Overlay to salvage the non-failed sections and a full depth reconstruction of the failed sections to provide a new pavement structure and rehabilitate the underlying base. The new pavement will be fiber reinforced HMA. The work will be performed during typical working hours with the roadway open to traffic. Travelers should expect delays during construction and are advised to use alternate routes if possible.
Failed utility patches throughout the city will also be repaired under the scope of this contract. For a list of locations please review the plan set available in the documents tab. This contract has been awarded to Lakeside Industries. Work is set to begin on 9/17/2024.

Road Work - Yelm Highway Pavement Rehabilitation & Citywide Utility Adjustments
Due to recent inclement weather, paving will continue on Yelm Hwy SE. Lanes will be intermittently closed on Yelm Hwy SE this week for paving operations, striping, and raising utility lids. Flaggers will be stationed for local traffic. Access to Chambers Prairie Elementary will be maintained during school hours.

Road Closure - Yelm Hwy SE
Yelm Highway Pavement Rehabilitation & Citywide Utility Adjustments
Lanes will be intermittently closed on Yelm Hwy SE for 3 weeks beginning Tuesday, 9/17 for paving operations. Flaggers will be stationed for local traffic. Access to Chambers Prairie Elementary will be maintained during school hours; please follow detours provided via Ruddell Rd SE/Texas Ave SE. 
Please use alternate routes if possible. Roadway grinding is currently scheduled 9/19 – 9/24 and paving 9/25 – 9/27 (M-F). This work is weather dependent and the schedule is subject to change.
