Ruth Weigelt Receives Spirit of Lacey Award

Last night (11/3) during their meeting, the City Council honored Ruth Weigelt with a Spirit of Lacey award! The Council established this award to recognize exceptional and out-of-the-ordinary contributions to the community. It is intended to be awarded sparingly and on a limited basis so as not to diminish its significance and the extraordinary contributions of recipients.

If you know Ruth, you know this describes her perfectly! Her involvement in our community (Lacey and beyond) stretches well over 50+ years and is never-ending! She’s is a founding member of Lacey Spring Fun Fair (committee chair for nearly 35 years), active in North Thurston Citizens for Schools committee – leading many levy and bond ballot-measure efforts, a member of the South Sound YMCA Board of Trustees for too many years to count, attends nearly all City of Lacey events, and the list literally goes on and on!

THANK YOU, Ruth, for helping shape our community over the years and definitely making it a better place to live!
