Safety Action Plan

Creating Safer Streets and Roads in Lacey

The City is committed to making our streets safer for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and all other road users. We are developing a Safety Action Plan (SAP) to help reduce, and ultimately eliminate, fatal and serious accidents on our roads. This plan is about saving lives – those of your family, friends, neighbors, and everyone who calls Lacey home.

Why the Safety Action Plan Matters

Developing this plan will improve transportation safety within the City. The SAP will establish a list of priority projects based on traffic data analysis and public involvement. The completed SAP will allow the City to apply for federal grants on these projects.

The City received a grant through the Federal Highway Administration’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program to develop the plan. The grant program funds regional, local, and tribal initiatives to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. The SAP must meet the requirements of the SS4A program to be eligible for additional funding opportunities.

What’s Next?

We have finalized the SAP. Now that the SAP is in place, the City can pursue additional federal funding for important safety improvement projects.
