System Glitch Created Discounts in February in Error

Due to a billing system glitch, a discount was applied to some residential customers’ February bills in error. The discount was listed under the line item “WW 50% DISCOUNT,” which is related to the City sewer and/or LOTT fees.

Most residential customers received a $24.48 discount on their City sewer charge. However, residential customers with a wastewater step system received a $42.61 discount to their City sewer charge and the LOTT charge. (See examples below.)

Two Utility Billing statements display a "WW 5% DISCOUNT" line, with discounts of -$24.43 and -$24.61 highlighted in red boxes.

As a result, your February utility bill may be lower than expected. Staff are working to correct the issue, and the adjustment will be reflected on your March utility bill. This means the impacted accounts will see a higher bill in March to account for the lower (incorrect) bill in February. Please note: The 2-month total will be the same amount as if the issue had not occurred.

To avoid fluctuations in your payments from February to March, you may choose to pay the correct amount in February.

If you have further questions, please contact the Utility Billing Department at (360) 491-5616 or UtilityBilling@CityofLacey.org.

We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this issue may have caused.  We appreciate your patience and understanding.
