WIN! Youth Program

Organizations or associations wishing to apply for funds must meet the following criteria:

• The group must be based in the Lacey area (i.e., high school clubs, sports teams, or youth groups), with the majority of participants living in the City of Lacey or the North Thurston School District boundaries.
• The group must be non-profit (and funds raised from the project must benefit the goals of the organization).
• Each group shall contribute a minimum of forty (40) hours of community service to be eligible for a maximum grant award of $300.
• Groups must have a minimum of eight (8) youth participants. No single group shall have more than 25 youth participants.
• The group’s primary membership must be youth between the ages of 10 and 18.
• Youth may participate in one WIN! project per funding cycle.
• Adult participation cannot exceed one adult per two youth in any one group. Work performed by additional adults or repeat youths will not count toward the 40-hour community service project.
• Organizations are required to provide proof of liability insurance to cover the activities of the volunteers.
• An adult representative who will be in attendance on the day of the project must sign the Safety Training Agreement.
• At least one of the adults participating in the project must have current first aid training.
• If less than 40 hours are completed, or a group fails to meet the minimum “8-youth” criteria on the day of the project, the organization will receive a reduced grant award and will only be considered for a future project if an insufficient number of groups turn in applications.
• Projects must be completed by the deadline outlined in the WIN! Program Agreement.
