Fireworks in Lacey
Consumer Fireworks Ban
The City of Lacey reminds residents and visitors that fireworks may not be sold or discharged in our community. In 2005, a majority of voters in Lacey approved a ban on consumer fireworks (LMC 9.20.046) and these regulations prohibit the sale, purchase, or discharge of fireworks in the City of Lacey at all times of the year. In addition:
- Sparklers and all other types of “safe and sane” fireworks are prohibited.
- Fireworks purchased or sold in other communities may not be used in Lacey.
NOTE: This prohibition does not apply to public displays or to the sale, use, and discharge of small trick and novelty devices, such as snakes, glow worms, and party poppers.
Lacey residents or Neighborhood Associations may check out a Fireworks Ban sign for their neighborhood starting June 20, at Lacey City Hall. We ask that the yard signs get returned after the holiday.
How to Report Fireworks Violations
Our limited police resources are dedicated to responding to all emergencies. Depending on the call volume, they may not be able to respond to your report of fireworks violations. Please use the following guidelines:
- Use the Non-Emergency Line: To report fireworks violations, please call the non-emergency line at (360) 704-2740, not 9-1-1. A dispatcher at TCOMM will ensure your complaint reaches the appropriate law enforcement agency.
- Reserve 9-1-1 for Life-threatening Emergencies: Call 9-1-1 only for emergencies that threaten life and property, such as fires or injuries caused by fireworks. This helps keep 9-1-1 lines open for critical situations.
Your cooperation is vital in keeping our community safe. Thank you for understanding and following the law.
