Holiday Tree Round-Up

The City partners with Scout Troops 222 and 9207 to provide curbside pick-up of live, natural holiday trees for Lacey residents (click here to see if your address is in the city limits). Scouts will not collect artificial trees or trees with ornaments, tinsel, or stands, as they cannot be recycled. Apartment residents should check with managers for locations to place their trees.

This year’s tree collection service will take place on Saturday, January 3! Residents must remove all decorations and place their tree at the curb by 8:00 a.m. on the collection day. No need to register or sign up to participate – the Scouts and their dedicated adults drive all roads within city limits and will collect any holiday trees curbside.

A huge thank you to our program partners, Asplundh Tree Service, for donating crews and trucks to chip the trees, and LeMay Pacific Disposal, for donating the collection bins to hold all the chipped trees, which are then transported to the Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center for recycling. This effort would not have been possible without their generous support!

The Scouts accept and appreciate donations for this great community service! Donations can be made:

  • Online
  • By mail to Scout Troop 222, PO Box 5379, Lacey, WA 98509 – Please make checks payable to Troop 222.

You must live within the Lacey city limits to receive this service. If you live outside the Lacey city limits, you can take your tree to the Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center located at 2420 Hogum Bay Rd NE and dispose of your tree free of charge through January 18 (closed January 1).

Pacific Disposal customers may place trees cut into 3-foot sections in, or next to, the yard-waste container on regularly scheduled yard-waste collection days.

Regardless of how they are collected, all trees end up at the Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center for recycling.
