Upcoming Lacey City Council Meeting Changes

Effective January 1, 2024, all Lacey City Council (Council) meetings will be held on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

• Regular Council Meetings: 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month. The first Regular meeting in 2024 is scheduled for January 2.
• Worksession Council Meetings: 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. The first Worksession in 2024 is scheduled for January 9.

Background
On December 7, 2023, the Council adopted Ordinance 1651, amending Lacey Municipal Code Section 2.04.010, to change their meeting date from Thursdays to Tuesdays.

OTHER COUNCIL MEETING CHANGES
Elimination of Committee Meetings
Effective January 1, 2024, the Council will no longer hold regularly scheduled Committee meetings. This change aims to streamline legislative meeting processes, improve operational efficiencies, reduce barriers to public participation in local government, and increase accessibility and transparency. Items previously presented at Committee Meetings will now be scheduled at Regular or Worksession meetings

Cable Broadcasting of Public Meetings
Effective January 1, 2024, public meetings will no longer broadcast on cable channel 3. The City of Lacey (City) will soon launch its own government channel, available on cable channel 77.

Community members can continue watching City public meetings live or on-demand on the following platforms:

• Public Meeting Portal
• Facebook (Council meetings only)
• YouTube

Starting in early 2024, public meetings will also be available on the City’s:

• ROKU channel
• Firestick channel
• Cable TV – Channel 77
