Project Background
This contract provides for construction of a modern roundabout to include; pavement rehabilitation, private utilities, stormwater, water, sewer, illumination, landscaping and other work.

Restricted Turns at Britton Parkway & Carpenter Road
Britton Parkway is re-opened at Carpenter Rd NE effective 7/16. Restricted turns through the new roundabout will be in effect through August until final paving is complete; no left turn from Britton Parkway NE to Carpenter Rd NE (southbound), and no through traffic from Draham St NE to Britton Parkway (eastbound). Please use alternate routes if possible.

Lane Closures at Britton Parkway/Carpenter Road
Lanes will be intermittently closed on Britton Parkway NE/Carpenter Rd NE on Monday, 9/23 beginning at 7:00 AM for installation of street lighting. Flaggers will be stationed for through traffic. Please use alternate routes if possible and expect delays.

Road Closures - Britton Parkway at Carpenter Road
Final paving operations will begin on Monday, 8/5. Expect intermittent lane closures throughout the week; please use alternate routes if possible and expect delays. Additional information regarding upcoming closures is included below.
The intersection at Carpenter Rd NE/Draham St NE will be fully closed on Thursday, 8/8 for paving. Please follow detour routes to Hawks Prairie Rd NE, Martin Way NE, and Sleater Kinney Rd NE.
The intersection at Carpenter Rd NE/Britton Pkwy NE will be fully closed on Friday, 8/9 for paving. Please follow detour routes to Hawks Prairie Rd NE, Marvin Rd NE, Martin Way NE, and Sleater Kinney Rd NE. Following this work, the new roundabout will be opened to traffic with limited interruptions. The project is scheduled to be complete in September.

Road Closure Britton Parkway at Carpenter Road
Britton Parkway will be closed between Carpenter Rd NE beginning Wednesday, 6/19 for approximately 3 weeks for roundabout construction. Truck access will be limited through the intersection during this time. Detours will be provided via Hawks Prairie Rd NE for through traffic. Please use alternate routes if possible.

Traffic Lane Shift with Intermittent Closures
Traffic is still reduced to one lane each way at Carpenter Rd NE/Britton Parkway NE/Draham St NE for roadway preparation. This shift will remain in effect through May, followed by another temporary lane shift. Flaggers will be stationed to direct traffic at intersections. Please use alternate routes if possible.

The Contractor continues to work on clearing the hillsides surrounding the Carpenter & Britton intersection. Traffic will continue to flow under one-way control. Lane closures are anticipated for the upcoming future, including shifting traffic to a new alignment starting on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
Work has begun to locate existing underground utilities, paving will be performed for the new roadway alignment, and Utility Companies will be working in the area to relocate lines in preparation of the new roundabout.
The public is notified to find alternative routes around the area as work progresses to minimize wait time through the one-way lane closures throughout the next month.

Mobilization
On January 16, 2024, the City of Lacey awarded the Construction contract to the qualified low-bidder, Active Construction, Inc., of Puyallup, WA. (Contractor). The Contractor will be mobilizing onto the Carpenter and Britton intersection beginning on March 4, 2024. Initial work includes temporary traffic control set-up, clearing and grubbing, and potholing. The Contractor will be placing erosion control measures throughout the working project area.
