Resources Available for Landlord and Tenant Conflict Resolution

Need Help Resolving a Conflict Between a Landlord and Tenant?

On August 17, 2023, the City entered into a service agreement with the Dispute Resolution Center (DRC) of Thurston County that specializes in mediation in a variety of evolving community needs and challenges. More specifically, the DRC has achieved significant success in resolving housing-related issues in Lacey and Thurston County.

When it comes to housing matters, the City and DRC share a commitment to finding solutions that preserve tenancy and housing stability, while respecting the rights of property owners. We understand landlords play a vital role in providing housing opportunities in our area. We also know tenants have diverse needs and may be experiencing heavy rent burden in the current housing market. Our goal is to strike a balance that accommodates both party’s interests using a voluntary and confidential conflict-resolution process.

Under the service agreement, funds are available until the end of 2023 to assist landlords and tenants facing conflicts within Lacey city limits. Both parties must voluntarily agree to collaborate with DRC professionals to identify mutually acceptable and reasonable solutions.
