Matching Rebate FAQ’s

My mailing address says I live in Lacey. Do I qualify?

Not necessarily—there are several unincorporated areas of Lacey. You can check to see if you live inside city limits here.

What is the minimum rebate?

$10.

What is the maximum rebate?

Your maximum rebate depends on which efficient upgrades you pursue and your total project cost. In some cases, the maximum rebate could be as high as your entire pre-tax project cost, but it cannot exceed the pre-tax project cost.

Here is a hypothetical example of how this works: You install qualifying insulation upgrades in your home. Your contractor bill was $2,000 before sales tax. Your PSE rebate, based on square footage, was calculated at $1,200. Your matching Lacey rebate would max out at $800 since it cannot exceed the total project cost before tax.

How do I apply?

To get started, check your eligibility for matching rebates here. Then, request a contractor referral to get a bid for your project. As a best practice, PSE recommends acquiring 3 bids for comparison purposes.

Next, visit PSE | Get Rebates to Lower Your PSE Bills to submit your work for a PSE rebate. A separate application is not required to receive the City of Lacey matching rebate. Once you have submitted PSE’s rebate application, you will automatically receive the City of Lacey matching rebate approximately 2 weeks after receiving the PSE rebate.

When does the program end?

There is no current end date, but funding is limited. We encourage interested customers who qualify to take advantage of the rebate match as soon as possible.

I am a renter. Do I qualify?

Yes! Renters may participate with their property owner’s permission, as long as the following program criteria are met:

  • You live within City of Lacey boundaries (check your eligibility here)
  • You live in an existing single-family or manufactured home

Multifamily buildings with 5 or more attached units do not qualify for a matching rebate.

How do I know which rebate level I qualify for?

Your incentive level depends on your housing type and income level. There are rebate categories for existing single-family homes and manufactured homes. Higher rebates are also available for moderate-income, existing single-family home residents—check PSE Efficiency Boost website to see if you qualify.

Can I DIY my own energy efficient home upgrades?

It depends. In some cases, you may complete the work yourself. Please visit pse.com/rebates to see the various program requirements and rebate forms.

Here are some considerations to keep in mind:

Can I get a matched rebate for participating in the electrification program?

Yes! City of Lacey will either partially or fully match the PSE electrification rebate. For the standard rebate, City of Lacey matches at 50%. For the Efficiency Boost and Manufactured Home rebates, City of Lacey matches at 100%. For more information, please visit PSE website

Are PSE’s Limited Time Offer (LTO) rebates matched?

Yes, if there is a higher LTO PSE rebate on a product, the higher LTO rebate amount will be matched by Lacey. However, once the LTO expires, the matching rebate will revert back to the standard, everyday PSE rebate.

Can I get a matched rebate for PSE’s hybrid heat pump furnace program?

No, this program is not included in the City of Lacey matching rebate initiative.
